Content of the book Power of Expression

Each chapter begins with an influential sentence from the elders that relates to the theme of the chapter.

After explaining the importance of the art of expression to the audience in the first chapter of the book, the author goes on to explain in detail what the purpose of the art of speaking is. “The purpose or purpose of speaking in public is to help make something happen that would not happen without the speaker’s words,” he says. For example, when Demosthenes (the famous Greek speaker) spoke, people would say, “What a good speaker,” but when Alcibides (American politician) spoke, people would say, “Towards the goal.” Your job as a speaker is to persuade and persuade your audience; “In a way that changes your career, their way of thinking, feeling and acting.”

About the author

Brian Tracy is a successful American speaker and consultant on career and personal advancement. He was born in 1944 in Charlottetown, Canada to poor families. As a teenager, Tracy had to work instead of studying and playing because of her family’s poor financial situation. Working on a ship and later selling handicrafts were some of the jobs from which he earned money. He is currently a speaker and consultant, as well as the chairman and CEO of Brian Tracy International.

The book’s preface to Tracy states: “Brian Tracy is one of America’s leading business speakers and one of the most influential personal advisors and educators in the world today. He lectures annually on 250,000 topics on a variety of topics including personal success, leadership, executive efficiency, creativity and sales. “He has authored more than 40 books and produced more than 350 audio and video tapes.”

As you know, you have both the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere is activated by facts and information and the right hemisphere by emotions, stories, quotes and examples. Using this method is very simple: tell a truth and continue it with a story. Tell another truth and continue with a quote. Next, describe another fact with a numerical example. Just go back and forth like a snowplow.

When you speak in this way, both the left and right hemispheres of your audience are activated. They lean forward, close their eyes to your mouth, and you will keep them fully interested at all times (p. 49).
